WorkMobile® at the Facilities Show

Well, with achy feet and tired eyes, we came to the end of three very busy days at the Facilities Show.  And what a brilliant, bustling show it was!

This was our first time exhibiting WorkMobile® at the Facilities Show, which is held at the NEC in Birmingham, and it was well worth the trip down from our offices in Salford, Manchester.

As the show is organised in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management, it is the perfect place to be for all involved in this sector.  From Facilities Managers to Health & Safety Managers, Operations Directors to Sales Co-ordinators, the event is designed to give the opportunity to meet varied, yet relevant people and find out ways your business could be improved.

Allowing users to design and host their own reports

One of the biggest challenges that we faced in the WorkMobile™ design team was how to allow our users to design and host their own reports – just as they would use the drag and drop controls to design their own forms.  Traditionally, we would design business intelligence solutions as bespoke projects –and charge usual consultancy rates to do so, however, this method defies the objective of WorkMobile™ which is meant to be a “self-service” system with no initial CAPEX.  During discussions many argued that we should code and build our own AJAX interface but others argued that we needn’t re-invent the wheel when there are tools available that can be customised to meet our requirements.

RPS Engineering Ireland are going from strength to strength thanks to WorkMobile

WorkMobile has stolen the show again and been noticed as the leading edge mobile reporting and scheduling tool for planned and reactive maintenance jobs at RPS Engineering, Ireland.

The facilities management company, who have contracts in many sectors including the prisons, defence, education and transport infrastructure, had been managing everything manually and were finding their paper-based system limiting.

With the implementation of WorkMobile+, jobs can be scheduled centrally from the portal and sent out in real-time to Windows Mobile PDAs, and job sheets are now instantly captured electronically.

WorkMobile+ is a real boon for RPS as it will allow them to grow the business that was previously so constrained with its old processes.  The system is due to go live mid November.
