We’re one of ’25 useful iPad business apps’!

Posted on:

WorkMobile® has been named as one of 25 useful iPad business apps.

WorkMobile® has been included in the list by Ann Bednarz the News Editor for Network World, which is an online resource providing information, intelligence and insights for network and IT executives.

The article has been produced in the form of a slideshow to showcase each business app’s best features.  Click here to see the slideshow show on Network World - skip straight to slide 12 for WorkMobile®!  The 25 apps have been chosen as they provide businesses with sought after features to make businesses more efficient and to make everyday processes easier to manage.

WorkMobile® runs on all mobile platforms, as well as the iPad so even if you do not use iPads in your business you can still increase business productivity by using the WorkMobile® app.  If you have paper forms in your business, we can help to reduce your paper usage, reduce errors through illegibility and reduce your carbon footprint by making your business a little bit more green!

The slideshow first appeared in Network World on December 20th 2011, but soon after the 25 useful iPad business apps was published on computerworlduk.com on 17th January 2012.

Proud to be listed as one of ’25 useful iPad business apps’, we just wanted to let you know!  And you might even find another app in the list that can help your business as well.

Too many columns to look at? Hide them!

Posted on:

While viewing grids on the WorkMobile® website you can choose which columns you see.

For example, this may be useful if you have a form with lots of fields and you want to compare the data in certain columns quickly and easily.

Rather than having to see every column, you can ‘show or hide’ the columns so that you only see relevant details.

Click on the ‘Show / hide columns’ button and a list of the column titles will appear.

You can use the tickboxes to tick/untick the columns you wish to be visible.

Once you have signed up for a WorkMobile® account, you should make sure you have registered to join the WorkMobile® Forum.

Our internet forum gives you the chance to keep up to date with WorkMobile® announcements, look for online support and join discussions.

The key element of the forum is that you are able to get advice and ideas from other users as well as from the professionals here at WorkMobile®.  If you have a problem or if you’re wondering how best to create a particular form then it might be worth asking for help on the forum.

The forum has been structured to include a number of different categories including; General Support, WorkMobile® Report Builder, BlackBerry OS, etc. so you should be able to find a relevant topic that you can post to.  In time we hope that the discussion threads will become a wealth of knowledge and that every WorkMobile® user will be able to find the answers to their questions.

WorkMobile® is a ‘do-it-yourself’ form designing website and App, and we have endeavoured to make it as easy to use as possible, therefore, we also like our support and technical help options to be very easy to understand.  In addition to the Video Tutorials and User Guides on the website, we hope the Forum will provide extra support 24/7!

Do you want to notify your Mobile Users they have an urgent Job?

Posted on:

Do you have the following problem:

You need to send an urgent job to one of your mobile users and make them aware of it immediately.

The solution is to send an SMS through WorkMobile® when you allocate the job.

1.  Once you’ve created a Job with all the relevant details, the next step is to allocate the Job to one of your Mobile Users.

2.  If you want WorkMobile® to send the user an SMS message, tick the box “Send SMS to Mobile User when the Job is Allocated”, then click on the Mobile User you wish to allocate the Job to.

3.  Your Mobile User will then receive an SMS informing them that they have a new Job on WorkMobile®. You’ll need to make sure that you’ve supplied mobile numbers when you setup your mobile users!

Note: This feature consumes an additional credit to cover the cost of the SMS.

How do I log in to the WorkMobile® App?

Posted on:

To log in to the App, you firstly need to create Mobile Users…

Tip – Your email address and password will not log you into the App. Find out how to create your Mobile Users now…

Now that you have registered for a WorkMobile® account, to receive forms and jobs to you and your workforces’ mobile devices, you need to add each individual as a Mobile User.

When you set up a Mobile User on the website, you create a unique username and password for the user that gives access to the App on their phone or tablet.

Remember, your email address and password allows access to your account on the website, but then each user has a unique username and password for access to the App on their device.

See the ‘Adding a Mobile User’ section on Page 12 of the Website User Guide.

Do you wish you could see more of your data on the screen?

Posted on:

If you have long forms, with lots of fields, viewing your completed records on the WorkMobile® website can be a little tricky.

Rather than scrolling across the page to see all of your data, you can now see it a little more easily…

When viewing your completed form data on the website, click on the ‘Expand Grid’ button on the top right of the grid.

This will expand your grid to the full width of the screen by removing the menu bars on the left.  You can return to the original view by clicking on the ‘Show Sidebar’ button at the top right of the grid.

Toggle between the two views as much as you want!

Are you using check boxes on your forms?

Posted on:

When you use the Check box tool in the Form Designer, it appears as a box that on mobile user devices can be ticked on or off…

However, on the iPhone and BlackBerry the Check box tool behaves a little differently.

All platforms have their own individual user interface style; therefore, some form elements (such as check boxes) display and behave differently on different devices.

Apple do not use a tick box on their official iPhone user interface.  Instead, a slider function is used which is defaulted to On/Off.

On BlackBerry devices the pop up list shows the options Yes and No.

This should be considered when designing your forms by using questions that the mobile user will not get confused with and have answers that relate to the default device answers.
