eSAY wins security contract on the spot

TheBusinessDesk

SALFORD-based mobile software firm eSAY Solutions has won a two year contract to supply a security firm with a product that will speed up the issuing of on the spot fines.

Up to 1,000 security staff at Carlisle Security will be given handheld PDAs from eSAY, complete with bespoke software applications that verify the identity of potential offenders and allow immediate fines to be issued.

The PDAs captures a detailed physical description of an individuals, which is then sent to a secure central database.

The identification of that individual is then verified, with immediate access to information such as the electoral roll, and penalty notices can be printed off with a mobile printer and issued there and then.

The devices are being used on Merseyrail and Northern Rail trains, issuing fines for offences such as ticketless travel, for example.

Moneeb Awan, managing director of eSAY, said although this first contract is phased, it has “the potential to be a very large contract for a small company like us.”

He said: “The end users are the key and they love it as it makes their job much easier – the technology takes away the pain and eradicates the paper trail.

“Security will be massive for us as a sector. That we've already got solutions and clients in manned security is great. It's a sector we've identified as one we can really help drive efficiencies of scale, productivity and improve safety.”

The company, which had a turnover of around £1m in the year to the end of March 2010, has significantly restructured in the last 18 months, with a new focus on developing software products specifically for the mobile market instead of consultative work.

Mr Awan added: “In the last 18 months we've restructured and have been turning development work away. Now we only do non-mobile solutions for our existing clients and we are focussed on mobile business services only.”
